AUDITION DATE:

SATURDAY AUGUST 24TH! 

Do you want to be a part of our competition/performance teams??

Here is how it works:

You come to auditions on August 24th. You will find the schedule below. 

You will be placed on a team/teams that the judges think you best fit.

You will practice with that team once a week. 

You will spend the fall learning a dance that will be your performance piece to be shown at Festival of Trees, school performances, and showcases. 

Starting in January you will learn your competition piece to compete with locally and take on the road for our one trip of the year. 

Here are the requirements:

*Attend your company class

*Attend one other class per week (more if you want)

*Attend two work out classes a month

*Attend company events

*Positive attitude/represent UNDS in a great way

We will have fundraising options to help with competition fees

You will be required to purchase a competition outfit, shoes, and a company jacket/t shirt

Dream Team is a company but is not by audition - this group will be hand picked throughout the month of September based on attendance, commitment, attitude, focus, and behavior. Please note - this group will not be everyone from last year. A whole new group will be picked based on how last year went and how many new people are going into the group. 

SCHEDULE:

Saturday August 24th 

8:30am Registration and warm up for ages 5-11

9am-10am Contemporary Class

10am-11am Hip Hop Class

11am-12:30pm AUDITIONS for this age group (hip hop then contemporary)

12:30pm Registration and warm up for ages 12+ 

THIS INCLUDES ADULTS

1pm-2pm Contemporary Class

2pm-3pm Hip Hop Class

3pm-4:30pm AUDITIONS for this age group (hip hop then contemporary)

5pm Auditions for anyone wanting to do a solo, duet, or trio

You must be ready with a few 8 counts choreographed in the style you will be competing with. 

Here are answers to a few questions we get asked:

1 - Does this cost money - YES. IT IS $50 PER PERSON FOR EITHER THE MORNING SESSION OR THE AFTERNOON SESSION. THAT IS 2 HOURS OF DANCING AND YOUR AUDITION FEE. IF YOU CHOOSE TO TRY OUT FOR A SOLO, DUET OR TRIO IT IS ANOTHER $20. 

2 - If I'm not trying out for contemporary do I have to do that class? YES! YOU ARE SIGNING UP FOR THE WHOLE SESSION. CONTEMPORARY MIGHT BE SOMETHING YOU ARE INTERESTED IN AND NOT KNOW IT YET. AND IF IT'S NOT YOUR THING, IT'S STILL GOOD TO DO TECHNIQUE WISE. 

3 - If I make a contemporary team do I have any additional classes to take? YES! NEW THIS YEAR, IF YOU MAKE A CONTEMPORARY CLASS YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO TAKE THE BALLET CLASS. THE PROGRESS IN TECHINQUE WILL BE OUTSTANDING AND REALLY HELP YOUR COMPETITION PIECES. 

4 - What if I can't come to auditions? YOU MUST BE AT AUDITIONS IN ORDER TO BE IN A COMPANY!!! IF YOU ARE SICK OR TRAVELING, PLEASE REACH OUT TO JESS TO DISCUSS. 

5 - Do you cut people at auditions? SOMETIMES. IF THE JUDGES FEEL YOU ARE NOT READY FOR COMANY YET OR IF BEHAVIOR/ATTITUDE/COMMITMENT WAS AN ISSUE THE YEAR BEFORE IT WILL REFLECT THIS COMING YEARS RESULTS.

6 - Does Jess judge auditions? NO! JUDGES ARE HIRED IN TO FORM NON-BIASED OPINIONS. JESS WILL HAVE FINAL SAY IF THERE IS A DISCREPANCY OR ANY ISSUES. THIS IS KEPT VERY FAIR AND IS BASED ON HOW EACH DANCER SCORES

7 - What are the elite teams? THE HIGHEST SCORES FROM EACH SESSION WILL BE ASKED TO BE PART OF OUR ELITE TEAMS. IT IS USUALLY AGES 5-14 AND THEN 15+ BUT IS OPEN TO CHANGE THIS YEAR. WE WILL BASE IT OFF OF EACH AUDITION SESSION. 

8 - Can parents stay and watch? NO! ESPECIALLY SINCE WE ARE IN A BIT OF A SMALLER SPACE NOW, THIS IS A DROP OFF EVENT ONLY. NO ONE BESIDES DANCERS ARE ALLOWED AT AUDITIONS. 

9 - How do I find out what team I made? RESULTS WILL BE POSTED EITHER THAT NIGHT OR THE NEXT MORNING ON THIS WEBSITE BY YOUR AUDITION NUMBER. 

10 - Can anyone audition? YES! ALL ARE WELCOME! 

RESULTS:

Yesterday was amazing. So much talent under one roof. But more importantly, I saw smiles and laughter. I heard thank yous every time they came in to audition. I saw new friends being made and great sportsmanship. I am excited for the coming year and all the changes that have been made. We are going to spend the year really focusing on friendship and respectfulness. 

Please remember, like I said yesterday, these scores and groups do not make or break anything. Simply groups that we think you will have a successful year with. Whether you were put in a group to challenge you or maybe put back a group from last year to shine, either way we do the same events, I give you all the very best I can and no one is better than anyone else. Please stay humble, please stay gracious and let's have a great year. 

I will need to hear from everyone to confirm that they accept their spots in each group. Before you accept please make sure you have read the requirements above and can really commit and follow through with those throughout the year. I will need to hear from everyone by Friday August 30th! If some do not accept their spots I might have to make adjustments to groups. 

Now that groups are made you will be able to go into the portal and register for the groups you made. However, a few new groups were made that I need to add to the portal. Please give me until tomorrow to add those in.
